The Lord Buddha once said the flame in an oil lamp burns dependent on the oil and the wick: 'when the oil and wick are present, the flame burns, but if either is absent, the flame will cease to burn.' Beside this other factors such as gases are presence to support during the process of burning and because of the burning in progress, the gases too are emitted to the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide and etc which the Dependent Arising in dependence upon other causal processes that are taking place too at the same time.
Let us also take the example of the plant, dependent on the seed, earth, water, air, and sunlight, the plant arises some later days and without this 'Interdependent Origination' (inverse order) there is no sprout. The principle of interdependent origination co-exist in the process with the Dependent Arising side by side, there are innumerable examples and because there is no existing phenomenon that is not the effect of Interdependent Origination. All these phenomena arise dependent on a number of causal factors which all physical and mental manifestations which constitute individual appearances are interdependent and condition or affect one another, in a constant process of arising and ceasing. The Dependent Origination (direct order) is interdependent to the Noble Truth which are also linked to the 'Twelve Nidanas' that overall give rise or result the ‘Karma' teachings of Lord Buddha.
The Buddha taught his disciples about the 'Dependent Origination or Dependent Arising, in pali Paticcasamuppada. The dependent origination or dependent arising states that all Dharmas ("things") arise in dependence upon other Dharmas:
'When there is this, that comes to be;
with the arising of this, that arises.
When there is not this, that does not come to be;
with the cessation of this, that ceases'
When [A], the condition for the occurrence of [B], does not exist, then the phenomenon [B] will not exist. But as [B] exist in dependence on [A], then with the absence of [A, B] nothing will occur, they are non in existence altogether. If [A] cease then [B] will also cease too. If there is no papaya seed, then there can't be a tree and if the seed is destroyed then there can be no growth of papaya tree.
For the tree to come into existence depends on the seed, the same is true which apply to the nature as well! At the beginning there were nothing of nothingness yet there were innumerable manifestation of things comes into beings due to the Dependent arising and Interdependent Origination processes regardless of any causal factors with the internal or external influences, which they come into existence. When human mind came into existence, the mind manifested all kind of new things that come into being through the Dependent Arising which are interdependent one to another of all manifestation as taught by the Lord Buddha and all these existences are not permanent but temporary in nature of this ever changing cosmology which we live in. Good Health and Buddha Bless!
