The scale-effect channel: is the scale size of the integrated economic unit may affect the speed of long-run economic growth. We label this property the "first-order scale effect". In addition, it might be the case that the level of the balanced growth path increases with the size of the relevant economic unit. This property is denoted as "second-order scale effect".
